What is Harvest to End Hunger Wisconsin?

Every community has families who are working hard to weather their tough times. The six Feeding Wisconsin member food banks that serve all 72 counties in the state have joined forces to provide farmers simple ways to get involved with the fight against hunger in their local communities. Through Harvest to End Hunger Wisconsin, farmers can donate proceeds from a portion of their non-edible crops and/or donate excess produce crops that will go to food banks and food pantries locally.

How does hunger affect rural Wisconsin?

Hunger is an often hidden problem that is affecting seniors, working families and children in rural as well as metro areas. Nearly 170,000 people living in our rural areas are at risk of hunger, including 69,000 children. Families who live in our rural regions face a number of challenges that put them at even greater risk of hunger. A lack of transportation, remote social service agencies and tight employment all make it more difficult for people to get enough food to feed themselves and their families.

How can farmers help end hunger?

There are two ways farmers can help.

Invest an Acre: Donate the revenue from a bushel, barrel or acre of your non-edible crops to help stock the shelves of your local food bank and food pantry. Donate revenue.

Share Fresh WI: Donate excess crops such as cabbage, sweet corn, potatoes, green beans and apples through our fresh surplus program to your local food bank or plan to donate a portion of your harvest to be freshly canned or frozen at the peak of nutrition for a longer shelf life through our Field to Food Bank Program. Donate produce.

Our farmers are the heart of our state. Harvest to End Hunger Wisconsin helps to connect their heart to help Wisconsin families through their tough times.
